DSM Capital Partners is an investment management company based out of Mount Kisco, New York. The company was established in 2001 by cofounders Daniel Strickberger and Stephen Memishian, both of whom are still with the company today acting as the firm’s co-Managing Partners and co-CIO. DSM Capital Partners operates through a partnership structure and is owned by its employees with the cofounders each owning over 40% of the company’s total ownership with the remaining ownership held by Russell S. Katz, the current CCO and General Counsel of the company. DSM Capital Partners currently has 23 employees with 11 of them being investment professionals. The company conducts its research internally, utilizing a fundamental analysis methodology with a bottom up investment approach. The company invests in the growth stocks of small and mid-cap companies and benchmarks its performance against various Russell, S&P 500, and DSM Indexes. DSM Capital Partners invests most heavily in the health care sector, which alone makes up over a third of its total asset allocations, and the company also invests in the information technology and consumer discretionary sectors, each making up another quarter of its total asset allocations, among other sectors to a lesser degree. The company currently holds over $6.6 billion in total assets under management spread across over 1,600 accounts, all of which are discretionary accounts except for 3 which make up only $114 million of its held assets. Both of DSM Capital Partners’s total held accounts and total assets under management have been increasing in recent years with its total assets significantly growing from under $1.2 billion back in 2010 to well over 5 times that amount today. The company mainly caters to high net worth individuals, which alone makes up over half of its total client base, and also caters to a variety of other clientele.
